Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary – General Ward (2 Positions)

Key Responsibilities and Duties

Consistency of Care

Governance, Quality, and Risk Management

  • Keep a therapeutic, clean, and safe environment free from risks.
  • Follow Netcare’s medical waste management rules and all other waste guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe workplace as per the Machinery and Occupational Safety Act.
  • Report any potential or actual risks.
  • Control stock properly and ensure equipment is used, cleaned, and stored correctly.
  • Report faulty equipment to the sister-in-charge for repair or replacement.
  • Protect patient privacy at all times.

Patient Care

  • Provide care within your scope of practice and take full responsibility for these tasks.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs.
  • Perform all procedures according to hospital standards.
  • Complete all duties assigned by supervisors.
  • Follow infection prevention principles and standard precautions.
  • Build good relations with patients, families, and visitors.
  • Attend shift handovers from the shift leader.
  • Refer questions to the sister-in-charge.

Teamwork and Transformation

  • Actively join team efforts to meet goals.

Personal and Professional Development

  • Take part in your own growth to keep skills and knowledge up to date.
  • Stay informed about Netcare’s changing policies and procedures.
  • Keep CPR and BLS competence current.

Skills Profile

Education

Essential:

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council as an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary.
  • Follow the SANC Scope of Practice for Enrolled Nursing Auxiliaries and all relevant health laws.

Preferred:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.

Work Experience

Preferred:

  • Experience in nursing.
