Description

The purpose of this position is to diagnose and maintain machinery and equipment according to technical specifications and sound engineering practices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Investigate, diagnose, and perform trade-related maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery based on maintenance requirements, standards, and specifications.
  • Conduct daily inspections in line with Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, operational, and company standards. Report all defects and breakdowns to the Supervisor.
  • Develop, modify, construct, and install trade-related equipment needed for the safe operation of engineering systems.
  • Ensure all installations and equipment are safe and functioning well after completing tasks.
  • Continuously monitor equipment failures and efficiency to improve trade-specific systems.
  • Consult with production teams on maintenance activities that may affect production.
  • Support engineering availability and production performance goals.
  • Record and report maintenance information to the planning office to maintain the planned asset maintenance system.

Qualification Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification, including relevant NATED qualifications like the N3 Certificate.
  • Valid Section 13 Trade Test or Section 26(D) certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license (Code B, EB, or C1).
  • Own transport for call-outs.

Experience and Skills Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years’ experience as a qualified artisan in a mineral processing plant.
  • Valid MQA Certification.
  • Experience with VSD and Soft Starters.
  • Experience with DP and Pro-V Simocode.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Good time management skills.
