Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate.
- An NQF level 7 qualification in Engineering (such as B Eng/BSc Eng) or a relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
- Three (3) years of experience after qualification as a registered professional Engineer (Electrical).
- Compulsory registration with ECSA as a professional Engineer.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Computer literate.
Duties:
- Provide inputs to technical and functional norms and standards from an engineering perspective for the Provincial Health Facilities Guidelines.
- Monitor that infrastructure projects implemented by agents comply with approved engineering norms, standards, and sound principles, including planning and design according to codes of practice.
- Update functional and technical norms and standards based on lessons from Post Project and Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) exercises.
- Prepare reports on the advisability, desirability, impact, and legality of proposals for innovative service delivery mechanisms.
- Undertake feasibility studies and prepare reports on services impact, financial impact, infrastructure impact, constraints, alternatives, and attainability.
- Develop cost-effective solutions according to standards.
- Prepare technical specifications.
- Apply electrical design principles.
- Evaluate existing technical manuals, standard drawings, and procedures to include new technology in specifications.
- Undertake preliminary costing for installations.
- Prepare reports on electrical engineering investigations.
- Determine electrical engineering proposals and design work for necessary solutions.
- Provide electrical engineering inputs to ensure successful project implementation.
- Offer electrical engineering professional and technical advice through verbal and written reports, calculations, specifications, and drawings.
- Monitor and study changes in the health sector, legal framework, standards, and policy frameworks.
