Driver with Secondary Functions: Physical Records Management

Job Purpose

The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government, seeks a competent individual to drive motor vehicles for transporting passengers and items such as mail and documents.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications

  • Junior Certificate (Grade 10) or equivalent qualification
  • 1 year of relevant experience
  • Valid Code B driver’s license (or higher) with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)

Recommended

  • Good client relations experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect mail bags from the Post Office and documents from department offices, either by vehicle or manually
  • Sort and distribute internal mail across all department offices
  • Prepare mail for posting by franking
  • Ensure the vehicle is maintained in good condition and request services as needed
  • Assist with records management functions
