Are you passionate about driving and logistics? Transnet, South Africa’s leading freight logistics company, is seeking a skilled Driver to operate Port Mobile Equipment. This exciting opportunity is based in Richards Bay, with preference given to candidates from the King Cetshwayo district.

Job Purpose

As a Driver: Port Mobile Equipment, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement of cargo within the MPT Richards Bay terminal. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Operating heavy machinery such as articulated vehicles, forklifts, pay loaders, and tip trucks
• Loading, transporting, and unloading cargo safely and efficiently
• Performing daily checks on equipment and reporting any defects
• Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and standard operating practices

Key Responsibilities

– Operate equipment in accordance with safety and operational guidelines
– Complete daily task sheets and report any equipment defects to supervisors
– Replenish fuel and fluid levels as needed
– Monitor equipment performance during tasks
– Handle a variety of cargo types and adjust equipment accordingly
– Report any incidents or accidents promptly
– Perform end-of-shift tasks

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you will need:
– Matric (NQF Level 4) qualification
– Code 14 (EC) driver’s license
– Valid certificate of competence for operating equipment (Dumper, Front End Loader, or Payloader)
– At least 2 years of relevant driving experience in port operations, maritime services, or warehouse tally

Competencies

– Knowledge of terminal operations and safety procedures
– Ability to operate multiple types of heavy machinery
– Strong understanding of safe loading practices
– Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment checks
– Experience handling different materials and cargo
