Driver – Key Populations (Mpumalanga)

Purpose of the position:

  • To transport outreach teams, commodities, and equipment to and from different locations. Handle other driver-related duties, including vehicle maintenance and following all road safety and traffic laws.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 10.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • 2 years of driving experience.
  • Valid Code 10 driver’s license with Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • At least 1 year of experience working in any Key Populations program (an advantage).
  • Ability to communicate in English and another South African language.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Shuttle the outreach team daily.
  • Ensure the safety of the outreach team while on site, as much as possible.
  • Keep the vehicle in good condition. Report any issues to the program manager right away.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and report defects to the Provincial Nursing Coordinator (PNC).
  • Maintain and update accurate log sheets and reports for all trips.
  • Reconcile petrol usage and submit reports to Finance as needed.
  • Follow all organizational fleet and driving policies, procedures, and other duties as assigned.
  • Always obey traffic laws.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to read and understand documents like safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to groups of customers or organization employees.
