Purpose of the role:

To carry out driving duties safely and efficiently, ensuring timely collections and deliveries to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure cargo integrity by securing the vehicle at all times.
  • Drive according to speed limits and adhere to all legal requirements.
  • Complete all necessary company documentation for loads.
  • Assist with loading and unloading, handling, and labeling of freight.
  • Complete delivery and receipt documents accurately.
  • Ensure loads are within vehicle weight limits.
  • Deliver orders on time to maintain good customer relations.
  • Inspect the vehicle daily and report any defects to the supervisor.
  • Complete driver logs and trip reports as required.
  • Stay updated on highway conditions and driving safety regulations.
  • Follow routing and scheduling plans developed by management.
  • Operate the vehicle safely in challenging environments like congested streets.
  • Maintain a valid driving license and medical certificate.
  • Physically check goods at collection and delivery points.
  • Refuel the vehicle, check oil and water levels, and perform daily safety checks.
  • Report vehicle defects in writing to the supervisor.
  • Act courteously and responsibly at delivery points.
  • Operate the overhead crane for loading and unloading.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 qualification.
  • Valid driver’s license and public driver’s permit (PDP).
  • At least 2 years of driving experience.
  • Must be flexible.

  • Teamwork and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow through and complete tasks.
