Organizational Profile

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a public entity under the Department of Higher Education and Training. We provide academic bursaries to South African citizens pursuing studies at 26 public universities and 50 TVET colleges nationwide.

Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Preferred)
Experience Requirement: 15+ Years (10+ at Senior Management Level)

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement student support policies aligned with institutional objectives
  • Oversee regional operational strategies for enhanced student services
  • Design performance tracking systems for student support programs

Operations Management

  • Supervise budget allocation and financial compliance
  • Manage stakeholder communications and resolution processes
  • Coordinate collaboration with higher education institutions

Team Development

  • Lead recruitment and performance management for support teams
  • Implement staff training and mentorship programs
  • Promote ethical leadership and organizational values

Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification in Business/Education Administration or related field
  • 15 years progressive leadership experience in educational operations
  • Expertise in higher education funding frameworks
  • Advanced project management capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in relevant discipline
  • Experience in national-scale student support programs
  • Proficiency in data-driven decision making
