Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Statistics, Demography, or Social Sciences. Training in official statistics and data quality, including the use of SASQAF.
  • At least 5 years’ experience at middle management or senior management level. Exposure to statistical production processes in social surveys and data quality assessment using SASQAF.
  • Knowledge of international guidelines and methodologies for social statistics, such as labour market statistics, population statistics, poverty, and inequality statistics.
  • Understanding of the fundamental principles of official statistics.
  • Familiarity with the Statistics Act, related legislation, statistical standards, and classification systems.
  • Knowledge of statistical processes and the generic statistical business process model.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Strong skills in planning, time management, problem-solving, communication, interpretation, and conceptualizing.
  • An innovative thinker who is committed, consistent, organized, and a good communicator. Ability to work in a team, think strategically, show perseverance, and willingness to travel.

Duties:

  • Manage data quality assessment for social statistics products.
  • Develop independent quality assessment reports for social statistics products.
  • Manage and coordinate the certification of statistics as official.
  • Develop and review data quality instruments and tools.
  • Create policies, procedures, processes, and plans. Manage staff and resources.
