Position Details
- Employment Type: Full-time Position
- Education Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance (NQF 7 equivalent)
- Experience Needed: 5-10 years (Minimum 3 years at management level in local government)
- Location: Gauteng Province
- Department: Financial Management Division
Key Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with personal transportation
- MFMA compliance certification or eligibility for dispensation
- Expertise in Local Government financial regulations (MFMA, SCM, GRAP)
- Professional registration with accounting body (advantageous)
- Comprehensive understanding of municipal supply chain management
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee municipal budget planning and allocation processes
- Manage payroll administration and supplier payments
- Supervise expenditure control, cash flow management, and grant administration
- Ensure compliance with national treasury reporting standards
- Coordinate tax compliance activities (VAT, PAYE, etc.)
- Prepare financial reconciliations and annual statements
- Implement cash management strategies and investment protocols
