Director: Community Services (Permanent Position)
Position Overview
Gamagara Local Municipality seeks a qualified Director of Community Services to lead strategic initiatives and operational management for community development programs in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, Northern Cape.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science/Public Administration/Law or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in middle/senior management roles
- Registration with SA Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP) or equivalent body
- Compliance with National Treasury MFMA competency requirements
Key Knowledge Areas
- Municipal governance systems & performance management
- Local government legislation & policy frameworks
- Service operations: Public safety, recreation, disaster management, and environmental services
Core Responsibilities
- Develop community services strategy and operational plans
- Manage department budget and performance metrics
- Oversee: Environmental services, public safety, disaster management, libraries, arts/culture programs
- Ensure compliance with municipal IDP objectives
- Lead departmental risk management initiatives
