Director: Community Services (Permanent Position)

Position Overview

Gamagara Local Municipality seeks a qualified Director of Community Services to lead strategic initiatives and operational management for community development programs in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District, Northern Cape.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science/Public Administration/Law or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in middle/senior management roles
  • Registration with SA Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP) or equivalent body
  • Compliance with National Treasury MFMA competency requirements

  • Municipal governance systems & performance management
  • Local government legislation & policy frameworks
  • Service operations: Public safety, recreation, disaster management, and environmental services

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop community services strategy and operational plans
  • Manage department budget and performance metrics
  • Oversee: Environmental services, public safety, disaster management, libraries, arts/culture programs
  • Ensure compliance with municipal IDP objectives
  • Lead departmental risk management initiatives
