Dietician Grade 1

Requirements

  • Senior Certificate / Grade 12 plus BSc Dietetics Degree.
  • Registration with the HPCSA as a Dietician (2025).
  • For Grade 1: South African qualified employees need no experience after registration with the HPCSA (if applicable, including those who completed Community Service in South Africa).
  • Foreign qualified employees need one (1) year of relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA (if applicable, including Community Service in South Africa).
  • Hospital experience and strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety are an added advantage.
  • Good interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Good interpersonal relationships and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Duties

  • Provide preventive nutrition services, including growth monitoring and education, in surrounding clinics.
  • Prescribe diets for patients.
  • Assist with food management in the hospital.
  • Participate in quality improvement programs.
  • Offer nutritional counseling services.
  • Prescribe and authorize special diet products.
  • Implement guidelines for healthy nutritional practices.
  • Create and implement information pamphlets on nutrition.
  • Plan and implement suitable programs for individuals or groups.
