Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) Certificate plus a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management, Development Studies, Sustainable Development, or an equivalent qualification (NQF 7).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience at a first-level or middle management level.
  • Experience in stakeholder coordination and management at provincial and local levels.
  • Advanced expertise in project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of the tourism industry, related legislation, and policies.
  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of tourism-related policies, strategies, and guidelines.
  • In-depth understanding of government planning, norms, standards, and applicable legislation.
  • Public service finance management and reporting systems.
  • Project management techniques and systems.

  • Research and analytical skills to interpret feasibility studies, viability assessments, and market intelligence for tourism development.

Duties

  • Conduct tourism development needs assessments in the district.
  • Design and implement support measures to enhance tourism development and promotion in the district.
  • Coordinate the department’s programs and activities in the districts.
  • Develop and implement an effective tourism stakeholder framework and advisory system.
  • Attend and present departmental plans and strategies at district and local structures.
  • Manage the operations of the district office.
