Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A three-year tertiary qualification (degree or diploma) in a built environment field, such as Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Property Management, Architecture, Town Planning, Human Settlements, or Development Studies.
  • Computer skills in MS Office.
  • A valid Code B or C driver’s license.
  • At least five years of experience in social housing, property development, management, and administration.

Key Attributes and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of council policies, relevant laws, and guidelines in this area.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and fix issues related to finances, audits, and procedures.
  • Skills to guide and monitor team performance and key results.
  • Project management experience.
  • Good report-writing and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear oral and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle tight deadlines.
  • Experience in budget control.
  • Managerial and negotiation skills.

Job Purpose

  • Lead and manage social housing programs according to the council’s policy and national and provincial guidelines.
  • As part of the hiring process, candidates may face tests on skills, pre-employment checks, medical exams, security vetting, and psychometric assessments.
