Deputy Director: Rural Hub Technical Services Jobs

Requirements

• An appropriate National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or an equivalent qualification.
• Relevant managerial experience in healthcare engineering and maintenance after obtaining the qualification. Experience should include design, specification, and maintenance of hospital infrastructure, as well as compiling specifications and procurement documents.
• Knowledge of compiling specifications and tender documents. Skills in contracts and quality management. Understanding of risk analysis, mitigation strategies, and prioritization.
• Familiarity with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and related regulations. Experience with NEC contracts, including Short-Term Service and Framework Agreement forms.
• Computer skills, including MS Word, AutoCAD, and Excel. Ability to budget and plan workshop activities to support provincial maintenance.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication.
• A valid driver’s license (Code B/EB). Willingness to work overtime, travel across the Western Cape at short notice, and assist other institutions. Physically fit to inspect buildings, infrastructure, and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide effective, efficient, and affordable hospital engineering services.
• Monitor and evaluate maintenance projects based on strategy and plans, and give feedback to stakeholders.
• Conduct inspections and offer technical guidance to health facilities in the province.
• Implement projects and provide direct technical support to facilities.
• Handle finance and supply chain management.
• Manage staff and teams.
