  • An appropriate National Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Relevant managerial experience in healthcare engineering and maintenance after obtaining the qualification, such as a National Diploma in Engineering. Experience in designing, specifying, and maintaining hospital infrastructure. Experience in preparing specifications and procurement documents.
  • Knowledge of preparing specifications and tender documents. Skills in contracts and quality management. Understanding of risk analysis, risk mitigation strategies, and prioritization.
  • Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and related regulations. Knowledge of NEC contracts, including Short-Term Service and Framework Agreement forms. Computer literate (MS Word, AutoCAD, and Excel).
  • Ability to budget and plan workshop activities to support provincial maintenance. Good interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication.
  • Manage and provide effective, efficient, and affordable hospital engineering services. Monitor and evaluate maintenance projects based on strategy and plans, and give feedback to stakeholders. Conduct inspections and offer technical guidance to health facilities in the province. Implement projects and provide direct technical support to facilities. Handle finance and supply chain management. Manage people.
  • Willing to work overtime and travel across the Cape Metro and parts of the Western Cape, often on short notice. Willing to help other institutions and directorates. Physically fit to inspect buildings, engineering infrastructure, and machinery. Valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB).
  • Salary: R 896 436 – R 1 055 958 per annum. A portion of the package can be structured according to personal needs.
