Deputy Director: Forest Resource Protection (2 Positions)
Position Details
Salary: R1,059,105 per annum (All-inclusive package)
Locations: Eastern Cape & KwaZulu-Natal (Phuthaditjhaba)
Employment Type: Full Time
Experience: 5 years (3 at managerial level)
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma (NQ6) in Forestry/Natural Resources or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience in forestry/environmental management
- 3 years’ experience at Assistant Director level or equivalent
- Working knowledge of:
- National Forests Act (84 of 1998)
- National Veld & Forest Fires Act (101 of 1998)
- PFMA and Treasury Regulations
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor forestry legislation compliance programs
- Develop policy frameworks and enforcement strategies
- Manage intergovernmental collaboration on forest protection
- Oversee fire prevention initiatives and protection associations
- Coordinate training for law enforcement agencies and stakeholders
- Conduct field assessments and data analysis
