Requirements:

  • A degree or national diploma in behavioural sciences, plus successful completion of the Corrections Science Learnership or Basic Training.
  • At least seven years of relevant experience in supervisory and junior management roles.
  • Computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, develop, improve, and implement systems, tools, and procedures for case administration. Align the following areas with unit management and offender rehabilitation: unit management, case management committees, labour, monitors, gratuity, privileges, and disciplinary systems. Ensure correct interpretation and compliance with policies and procedures. Handle enquiries from parliament, media, practitioners, NGOs, politicians, individuals, portfolio committees, and regions. Provide input for annual reports, budget votes, motions against the department, and media briefings. Monitor case management progress using frameworks and action plans. Provide frameworks and tools to regions. Monitor monthly successes and failures per region against targets. Oversee offender labour performance. Monitor monthly successes and failures per region against targets. Ensure compliance with unit management, including structured daily programmes and three meals a day. Monitor quarterly successes and failures per region against targets. Manage performance information, finances, human resources, and assets.
