Thorburn Security Solutions is actively seeking six highly driven candidates to occupy the position of Grade C Control Room Operators. As direct reportees to the Security Manager, the Grade C Control Room Operators play a significant role in administering the security operations and CCTV system tailored to our client. They are tasked with implementing security guidelines and standard operating procedures to maintain a secure environment for both employees and visitors.

Core Responsibilities:

Task Details
CCTV Control Room Documentation
  • Maintain control room records and files.
  • Manage OB Book and Small Book.
  • Oversee Book of Instructions and Message.
  • Monitor and update the Event Log.
  • Handle additional security registers.
Control Room Operations
  • Comply with the standard operating procedures.
  • Handle control room and CCTV equipment.
  • Perform pre-shift equipment checks.
  • Ensure the control room is secure from unauthorized access.
  • Coordinate control room shift changes, including handovers and takeovers.
Interaction with key role players
  • Demonstrate communication proficiency.
  • Adhere to radio protocols.
  • Ensure clear orientation and exposition.
  • Manage changing instructions and commands.
  • Master the fundamentals of report writing.
Incident Management
  • Implement incident management and response plans.
  • Understand the function and handling of alerts.
  • Follow the emergency protocols and removal strategies.
  • Collect, preserve, and distribute data effectively.
  • Use online platforms for incident reporting.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in South African security legislation.
  • Understanding of Security Operational Processes.
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety legislation.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Communication skills across all organisational levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong sense of urgency.
  • Punctuality and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, Outlook).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Level-12 Education.
  • A valid Grade A Psira Certificate.
  • CCTV / Surveillance Certificate.
  • Computer Literacy Certificate.
