Coordinator – Spatial Data Services Opportunity

Position Overview:

The City of Cape Town seeks an experienced professional to coordinate spatial data services within our Electricity Generation & Distribution Department. This role requires strategic leadership in geospatial data management for electrical infrastructure systems.

Essential Requirements:

  • • BSc/BTech in GIS, Geomatics, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • • Professional registration with SAGC or ECSA
  • • 8+ years GIS experience (5+ in management)
  • • Proven expertise in electrical utility systems mapping
  • • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • • Advanced problem-solving capabilities

Core Responsibilities:

  • • Develop strategic plans for geospatial data management
  • • Oversee accurate capture/maintenance of electrical infrastructure data
  • • Coordinate design standards for power distribution projects
  • • Manage wayleave acquisitions and land administration
  • • Integrate technical designs for engineering projects
  • • Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration
