The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) works to protect South Africa’s environment and natural resources, guided by constitutional mandates to ensure environmental sustainability.

Requirements

  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree (NQF8) in Natural/Environmental Sciences or equivalent qualification
  • 6 years’ experience in biodiversity/climate change fields post-qualification
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing biodiversity strategies
  • Expertise in Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) and Nature-based Solutions
  • Knowledge of international environmental agreements
  • Valid driver’s license and project management skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop climate adaptation tools for biodiversity protection
  • Implement Ecosystem-based Adaptation strategy and guidelines
  • Coordinate cross-sectoral environmental initiatives
  • Provide technical guidance on biodiversity-climate matters
  • Support intergovernmental environmental agreements
