Mohokare Municipality is a local municipality within the Xhariep District Municipality, located in the Free State province of South Africa. The name “Mohokare” is derived from the Sesotho word for the Caledon River, which flows through the municipality.

Job Title: Compactor Truck Driver: Community Services Department

**Remuneration:** R 166 896.00 per annum

Minimum Requirements & Experience:

  • Basic literacy
  • Driver’s license code EB and EC, plus a Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
  • 1 – 2 years of experience

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions
  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be responsible, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Willingness to work outside normal hours, including during emergencies and overtime

Key Performance Areas:

  • Receive instructions and details of tasks, vehicles, materials, and personnel from immediate superiors
  • Inspect safety devices, controls, and lubricant levels on vehicles and report any defects
  • Participate in loading/offloading sequences, checking materials, tools, and safety procedures
  • Transport personnel, materials, and equipment to and from work sites
  • Operate specialized heavy vehicles (compactor trucks) to collect, transport, and dispose of refuse at landfill sites
