Community Liaison Office (CLO) Coordinator (US Citizen Eligible Family Members – USEFMs)
This position is with the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in South Africa. The mission includes about 346 U.S. staff and 620 locally engaged staff from 28 U.S. Government departments and agencies. Besides the Embassy in Pretoria, there are Consulates in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban.

Duties
- Work in the Management Section and report to the post’s Management Officer, with guidance from the Global Community Liaison Office (GTM/GCLO). Develop, implement, and manage a program based on community needs and post-specific requirements.
- Handle morale-boosting activities in eight key areas: family member employment; crisis management and security; education; communications and outreach; guidance and referral; welcoming, orientation, and departures; community liaison; and events planning.
- Identify needs and provide effective programs, information, resources, and referrals. The CLO is a required ICASS service provider serving all participating U.S. Government agencies at post. The main group includes all direct-hire employees and family members under Chief of Mission authority.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
All selected candidates must obtain and hold a TOP SECRET security clearance.
- All candidates will undergo a background investigation.
- The selected candidate must start work within a reasonable time (12 weeks) after receiving agency authorization and clearances, or the offer may end.
Education Requirements:
- At least two years of college or university studies are required.

- Language: Good working knowledge of English for speaking, reading, and writing (this may be tested).

Qualifications:
- All applicants must pass medical and security certifications.
Experience:
- At least three years of professional experience in administration, office management, customer service, program management, or public policy.
Job Knowledge:
- Understand the Foreign Service community and federal government structure. Know general principles of program management and monitoring. Standard knowledge of Microsoft Office is needed.
- Know Department of State programs and policies for the eight CLO areas: community liaison, crisis management, employment, education, guidance and referral, communications and outreach, welcoming/orientation/departures, and events planning.
Skills and Abilities:
- Analyze issues and make conclusions and recommendations.
- Work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including briefing and writing.
- Draft and edit material for correspondence and publications.
- Be proficient in project management for short- and long-term projects.
- Work at a high level with disruptions and follow an untraditional schedule.
