Requirements

The ideal candidate must have at least a Grade 12 certificate. A qualification in Community Development Work is an added advantage. Experience in Community Development Work is required, including volunteering in community projects.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

The successful candidate must have:

• Basic knowledge of government processes
• Knowledge of Community Development and Municipal Structures
• Good interpersonal skills and sensitivity towards the communities served
• Report writing skills
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• The ability to act tactfully and with discretion
• Computer literacy

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will liaise, coordinate, mobilize, inform, and assist communities to access government services. They will help communities identify and communicate their needs to government at national, provincial, and local levels to bring services closer to the people. Key duties include:

• Informing and assisting communities to access services from government structures
• Determining community needs and communicating them to relevant government bodies
• Promoting networks and enhancing activities of local governance structures and stakeholders (such as community-based workers, NGOs) to improve service delivery
