The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is the nation’s tax collecting authority. Established under the South African Revenue Service Act 34 of 1997 as an autonomous agency, we manage the South African tax system and customs service. Our main functions include collecting and administering all national taxes, duties, and levies.

Job Purpose
To provide expert advice and support in developing operational plans and service delivery processes. This includes creating communication products, integrating communication teams, and conducting research to align with business goals and improve service delivery.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification and Experience Required
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Marketing, Public Relations, Brand Management, or Communication, plus 5-7 years of experience in marketing, communication, public relations, or brand management. At least 2-3 years should be at a skilled technical level.
Alternative Qualification
- Senior Certificate (NQF 4) plus 10 years of experience in marketing, communication, public relations, or brand management. At least 2-3 years should be at a skilled technical level.

Functional or technical experience in communication.
Job Outputs
Process
- Identify and resolve queries and problems promptly, using guidelines, and escalate issues when needed.
- Conduct research on media and tax content issues.
- Develop and implement operational plans for communication campaigns.
- Use knowledge and judgment to make decisions.
- Produce, layout, and design the digital bi-weekly newsletter.
- Provide integrated, solution-focused services using the latest digital tools.
- Draft communication materials to meet set standards.
- Monitor and address violations of communication procedures and corporate identity standards.
- Collect information to track progress, support reporting, and identify improvements.
- Apply knowledge to identify trends and risks.

- Follow policies, practices, standards, procedures, and legislation.
- Diagnose and solve problems based on knowledge and experience.

- Quality-check creative and production materials from external suppliers.
- Facilitate brainstorming sessions between production and client service teams.
- Serve as the central contact point for the Communication and Marketing Division.

- Contribute to developing governance, compliance, integrity, and ethics processes.
- Implement an integrated workflow for the Communication and Marketing Division.

Finance
- Follow policies to ensure cost-effectiveness and reduce expenses.
