Club General Manager – Talent Pipeline

Your Purpose

  • Do the best work of your life by creating experiences that help people live active lives.
  • This role oversees all aspects of the club’s operational and financial performance, including income statements, sales retention, brand standards, and people management.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Ensure the club runs as a profitable business with revenue and EBITDA growth.
  • Manage club operating expenses through profit and loss oversight.
  • Follow company standards to minimize risks, such as salary requirements and audit reports.

Facility Management

  • Handle operations, health, and safety, ensuring procedures meet business standards.
  • Oversee maintenance and utilities to keep costs effective.
  • Make sure the facility offers a complete wellness experience through proper upkeep.

People Management

  • Lead recruitment, development, and training of staff.
  • Communicate all information clearly to club staff.
  • Implement and enforce policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Manage performance across departments effectively.
  • Follow industrial relations policies and procedures.

Service Experience

  • Provide members with exceptional service in the facility.
  • Maintain a strong focus on members.
  • Resolve member queries and complaints according to company policy.
  • Deliver excellent customer service that meets brand standards.

Competitor Analysis

  • Know how to reduce risks from competitors.
  • Regularly review the competitor landscape.
  • Inform senior management of any potential risks.

Our Minimum Requirements

We can’t live without

  • Matric or equivalent NQF level 4.
  • Previous experience as a Club General Manager with a proven track record and strong leadership, or as second-in-command to a Club General Manager.
  • Completion of the internal Learn to Fly programme.
  • Strong financial skills and good business sense.
  • A business owner mindset.
  • Solid knowledge of the market and competitors.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of HR procedures, including recruitment, development, relations, performance management, and coaching.
  • Proven success in a fast-changing, high-pressure environment.
