Clinical Nurse Practitioner Grade 1 to 2 (Primary Health Care)

Key Responsibilities
- Help manage common diseases following the Western Cape guidelines and protocols.
- Provide and maintain high-quality care to all patients and health services.
- Keep accurate clinical records, statistics, registers, and referral documents.
- Use resources and stock effectively within budget limits.
- Take part in community events and raise awareness about health issues.
- Work as part of a team with other professionals and disciplines, but also independently when needed.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff members.
- Maintain professional standards, ethical practices, and ongoing personal development.
Requirements
- A basic R425 qualification (diploma or degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- A post-basic qualification of at least one year in Curative Skills in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care, accredited by SANC (R48).
- Current registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
- In-depth knowledge of nursing and public service laws.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills in MS Word and Excel.
- For Grade 1: At least 4 years of relevant nursing experience after SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- For Grade 2: At least 14 years of relevant nursing experience after SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- At least 10 years of the above experience must be relevant after obtaining the one-year post-basic qualification in the specialty.
- Candidates without full registration can apply but must provide proof of application and payment for registration by the interview date. This applies only to first-time applicants for the post-basic Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care.
- Be prepared to work at various facilities in the Drakenstein Sub District, including mobile units and community outreach (COPC concept).
- A valid driver’s license is required.
Salary and Benefits
Grade 1: R 476,367 per annum
Grade 2: R 583,989 per annum
Plus annual benefits including a 13th cheque, employer’s pension fund contribution, housing and medical aid allowances.
