Dis-Chem Pharmacies is on the lookout for a qualified Clinic Sister to enhance our team at the Tygervalley location. The primary goal of this role is to manage and efficiently operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic located inside a pharmacy, maintaining the standards expected of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 – Matric Certificate
  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
  • Degree or Diploma in Midwifery
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
  • Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF registration
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Advantageous Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years working as a Primary Health Care Sister
  • Experience with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra

Job Description

As a Clinic Sister, your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing duties in accordance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Managing patient foot traffic and establishing clinic objectives to enhance service delivery.
  • Ensuring the availability of all clinic services.
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring prompt follow-up communication.
  • Ensuring the clinic operates according to designated hours.
  • Accurately processing claims in a timely manner.
  • Overseeing the functionality of stock and equipment within the clinic.
  • Maintaining adequate clinic stock levels aligned with company requirements.
  • Building and sustaining positive relationships with stakeholders, including patients, store managers, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and community health role players.

Competencies Required

Essential Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of community health nursing, primary health care, and occupational health nursing.
  • Knowledge in areas like family planning, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, and wound care.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and development, including quarterly CPD and in-service training with Dis-Chem.
  • Proficient command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyze monthly clinic statistics and understand financial implications.
  • Emotional intelligence, trustworthiness, and a self-motivated approach to work.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Advantageous Competencies:

  • Bilingualism
  • Familiarity with business objectives and operations.
  • Specialized training in immunization, family planning, breastfeeding, and disease management.

Special Conditions of Employment

  • Willingness to work retail hours.
  • Physical fitness to manage responsibilities within a Primary Health Care Clinic.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
  • South African citizenship.
  • Clear credit and criminal records.
