Minimum Requirements for Clinic Sister Position
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Grade 12 – Matric
- Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
- Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Possession of BHF registration
- 2-3 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Advantageous Additional Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous and will strengthen your application:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Sister
- Familiarity with Patient Record Systems such as CKS and Allegra
Job Responsibilities
As a Clinic Sister, you will be expected to perform a variety of important duties, including:
- Conducting Clinic Sister duties in compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Managing the clinic’s average “feet-per-hour” rate and setting objectives to improve patient care.
- Ensuring all required clinic services are readily available to patients.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and following up on communications.
- Operating the clinic according to its advertised hours.
- Processing claims accurately and promptly per industry standards.
- Ensuring that clinic stock and equipment are fully operational and in good condition.
- Maintaining an adequate stock level according to business needs.
- Building and fostering strong relationships with patients, the Store and Dispensary Manager, colleagues, medical aid providers, suppliers, and the community.
