Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a cleaner in a health facility or similar environment

Competencies & Knowledge

• Good verbal and written communication
• Basic reading and writing skills
• Interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of OHS, Infection Control, Waste Management, Batho Pele Principles, Patient Rights, and the OHS Act
• Ability to work in a team and under pressure

Duties

The cleaner will be responsible for:

• Cleaning floors, windows, walls, basins, mirrors, kitchen, urinals, bathrooms, and other designated areas
• Dusting, polishing, scrubbing, stripping, and disinfecting clinical and non‑clinical areas
• Preventing cross‑contamination and removing spills to avoid falls
• Using correct chemicals at the right dilution according to IPC guidelines
• Collecting and separating waste by category
• Maintaining cleaning tools and reporting faulty equipment or incidents

Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and accompanied by an evaluation certificate.

All candidates will undergo vetting and pre‑employment checks, including criminal record, citizenship, credit, qualification, and employment verification. Where applicable, a skills/knowledge test and medical surveillance will be conducted.
