Cleaner Supervisor (Level 4)

Requirements:
- Grade 10 qualification. 3–5 years of relevant experience at level 2–3. Basic knowledge of laws and processes related to cleaning.
- Understanding of policies, Batho Pele Principles, Patient Rights Charter, Occupational Health and Safety, Six Priorities, and National Core Standards. Ability to work under pressure.
- Skills to work with internal and external stakeholders. Good communication with people at all levels. Ability to handle varied tasks, work alone or in a team.
- Strong organizational and planning skills. Self-motivated. Tactful, discreet, and insightful. Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Good written and verbal communication. Knowledge of labor relations. Ability to keep information confidential.
- Takes initiative. Willing to work shifts, including fixed hours, after-hours, nights, weekends, and public holidays. Computer literate. Ready for medical checks.
Duties:
- Supervise and check on institutional cleaners during day and night shifts. Apply Batho Pele Principles and show professionalism. Ensure all staff are on duty, sign attendance registers, and manage absences.
- Make sure cleaners wear name tags. Track timekeeping, breaks, late arrivals, and early departures. Take corrective actions when needed and help with labor relations issues.
- Handle leave forms and send to higher supervisor for approval. Attend training sessions. Complete daily production sheets for the next manager.
- Ensure equipment is safe and available. Hold weekly and monthly meetings with cleaners. Do daily checks to monitor cleaning staff.
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the manager. Arrange training for cleaners. Ensure all wear prescribed uniforms daily.
- Follow instructions from senior staff. Treat clients and colleagues with respect and dignity. Help with cleaning during shortages or emergencies.
- Complete forms for repairing broken items. Follow all cleaning service policies and procedures. Meet deadlines. Comply with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager. Follow the Performance Management and Development System (contracting, reviews, and assessments).
