Reporting to the Board of Directors on a five-year fixed-term contract, the CEO will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction. You will drive the Eastern Cape’s economic development priorities, build strong leadership, ensure legal compliance, and coordinate economic activities across the province. Your role will help meet and exceed the goals in our Corporate Strategy and Plan.
Key Performance Areas:
- Achieve financial and operational sustainability while delivering on the ECDC mandate.
- Support sustainable, development-focused economic growth by boosting activity in key sectors and all regions.
- Lead efforts on the 4th Industrial Revolution, innovation, and digital transformation.
- Manage strategic relationships with stakeholders.
- Develop policies and contribute to Board decisions.
- Ensure government strategies related to ECDC’s mandate are fully implemented and integrated.
- Provide strategic leadership, executive management, responsible entrepreneurship, ambassadorship, and statutory compliance.
- Plan and implement strategies, policies, procedures, and resources to meet Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and ECDC Act requirements.
- Initiate and implement skills development for staff to build capacity and core skills.
- Identify and secure strategic partnerships in public, private, and development sectors.
- Lead to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Oversee governance, control, and legal systems.
- Develop and maintain a shared vision and mission among management and staff, taking full responsibility for the Corporation’s success.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Commerce, Development Finance, MBA, or MBL (advantageous).
- 10 years of experience at executive level.
- Experience in development finance institutions, lending, or private sector commercial environments is desirable.
- Knowledge of public sector operations is advantageous.
Technical Competencies:
- Ability to integrate technology into systems and processes.
- In-depth knowledge of property management and development finance.
- Extensive experience managing and overseeing multiple departments.
- Strong understanding of development finance, strategy, communication (oral and written), planning, monitoring, evaluation, and governance.
- Deep people management and motivation skills.
- High financial literacy, including budgeting and reporting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of project and property management.
