Chief Economist and Head of Research

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required) + Master’s/PhD (preferred) in Economics, Data Science, or related fields
  • Experience: 5+ years (including 3 years in senior management)
  • Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
  • Field: Data Analysis & Policy Research

Key Requirements:

  • Expertise in economic modeling, behavioral economics, or policy analysis
  • Proven track record in leading research teams and publishing findings
  • Experience in public sector capacity-building programs
  • Strong skills in forecasting, scenario planning, and data-driven decision-making

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop NSG’s research strategy to address national policy priorities
  • Analyze socio-economic trends to improve public sector performance
  • Create economic models for policy impact assessments
  • Build partnerships with government agencies and academic institutions
  • Oversee knowledge management systems for research dissemination
  • Lead skills development programs for public servants
