Role Overview

The National Treasury seeks an experienced leader to oversee financial strategies and policy implementation for South Africa’s education sector. This role drives effective budget management and fiscal oversight to support national development goals.

Key Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Economics, Public Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ senior management experience in strategic planning and policy development
  • Strong understanding of public sector financial regulations

Core Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Budget Management

  • Coordinate annual budget processes with national/provincial stakeholders
  • Analyze departmental budgets and funding proposals
  • Modernize budget frameworks and fiscal reporting systems

Expenditure Oversight

  • Monitor implementation of Public Finance Management Act
  • Conduct sectoral expenditure reviews and fiscal analysis
  • Manage financial reporting for selected public entities

Policy Development

  • Analyze education sector policies and funding mechanisms
  • Advise government stakeholders on fiscal strategy
  • Develop performance indicators for service delivery
