Chief Artisan Grade A (Electrical/Mechanical)

Requirements

• An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
• At least 10 years of post-qualification experience as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman. (Proof of recognized experience will be required for shortlisted candidates.)
• Computer literacy.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Competencies: Knowledge of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act (No. 103 of 1977), relevant regulations and municipal bylaws, Promotion of Access to Information Act (2000), Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (2000), Government Immovable Asset Management Act (2007), and Occupational Health and Safety Act (1993) and regulations.
• Skills: Planning and organizing, verbal and written communication, and computer literacy.

Duties

• Manage technical personnel and division meetings.
• Conduct job assessments for the division.
• Oversee material, tool, and equipment needs for the division.
• Handle client interactions and relations.
• Schedule work and ensure overall division productivity.
• Develop and enforce maintenance schedules and records.
• Conduct research and apply findings in the work environment.
• Sign off on performance based on approved job descriptions, strategic, and annual performance plans.
• Manage human resources, including discipline and skills transfer to personnel, assistants, and consultants.
• Plan and allocate work responsibilities, control performance, and ensure quality assurance.
• Manage staff performance and development.
