Position Purpose

    <li ACCOUNTABLE for category strategy development, supplier negotiation, and execution for assigned categories.

    <li RESPONSIBLE for analyzing internal demand and external market dynamics to build and execute category strategies.

    <li DUTIES include overseeing procurement performance against KPIs like savings targets.

    <li MANAGE a high-performing team and maintain engagement.

Key Responsibilities

    <li DEVELOP and review category purchasing strategies for assigned spend categories.

    <li CONTRIBUTE to business change strategies to improve operations and adopt new procurement models.

    <li DEFINE and implement strategic plans, working closely with the Executive Manager of Category.

    <li MANAGE the end-to-end procurement process, from sourcing to contract drafting.

    <li OVERSEE category spend, securing value and maximizing economies of scale.

    <li BUILD strong supplier relationships to meet business needs and collaborate with internal stakeholders.

    <li MANAGE corporate risk related to procurement and supplier activities.

    <li MONITOR performance against SLAs/KPIs and analyze market trends for strategic insights.

    <li SUPPORT contract management, savings realization, and internal change initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

    <li BACHELOR'S degree in a relevant field (MBA or related postgraduate qualification advantageous).

    <li 6-10 years of relevant experience (3-5 years in middle management).

    <li EXPERIENCE in managing procurement teams and processes.

    <li KNOWLEDGE of PFMA, PPPFA, and public sector procurement.

    <li MCIPS certification and CIPS membership are a plus.
