Position Title: Category Management Manager – Fleet
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Job Type: Full Time
Qualification Required: Bachelor’s Degree (MBA or related postgraduate qualification advantageous)
Experience: 6-10 years (3-5 years at middle management level)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and review purchasing strategies for assigned spend categories.
  2. Create business change strategies to transform operations and implement new procurement models.
  3. Define and execute a strategic plan for the category, aligning with the Procurement strategy.
  4. Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle, from sourcing to contract drafting.
  5. Monitor and optimize spend, ensuring value and economies of scale.
  6. Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  7. Identify and mitigate corporate risks related to procurement and supplier activity.

Research and Analysis:

  • Monitor performance against SLAs/KPIs.
  • Analyze supply markets and supplier capabilities.
  • Provide insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure alignment with performance expectations.
  • Collaborate on contract management and savings realization.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 6-10 years of experience in procurement or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in managing procurement teams and processes.
  • Knowledge of PFMA, PPPFA, and public sector procurement.
  • MCIPS certification and CIPS membership are advantageous.

Standard Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license (Code 08).
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Competencies:

  • Develop governance frameworks in Supply Chain Management.
  • Create mandates for SCM governance structures.
  • Develop the SCM chapter of the Delegation of Authority Framework.
  • Formulate and implement the Supply Chain Policy.
  • Develop and maintain Supply Chain Manuals for goods, services, and construction procurement.
