Job Purpose

Maintain the mall’s roof, gutters, parking, and yard areas while handling general maintenance tasks across the facility. This role ensures exterior areas are safe, functional, and well‑maintained, supporting overall operational efficiency and tenant satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• General Maintenance
  • Perform day‑to‑day maintenance tasks across the mall.
  • Assist other handymen with shared responsibilities.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests and minor repairs.
  • Conduct routine inspections and report needs to the Operations team.
  • Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
• Roof and Gutter Maintenance
  • Inspect, clean, and maintain roof and gutters to prevent leaks and blockages.
  • Repair minor roof defects and flashing.
  • Identify larger roof issues that require contractor intervention.
  • Use appropriate PPE and equipment safely.
• Parking and Yard Maintenance
  • Maintain parking areas, including surface repairs and line marking.
  • Keep yard areas organized, clean, and safe.
  • Remove debris and hazardous materials.
  • Inspect external areas and report damage or hazards.
• Preventative and Reactive Maintenance
  • Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests.
  • Keep accurate logs of work completed, parts used, and observations.
• Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all occupational health and safety standards.
  • Use PPE correctly and ensure safety signage and barriers are in place.
  • Report hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Teamwork and Communication
  • Work closely with other handymen and the Operations team.
  • Communicate effectively with Junior and Senior Operations Managers.
  • Assist new or temporary staff when required.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Safe, clean, and well‑maintained roof, gutters, parking, and yard areas.
• Timely and quality completion of maintenance tasks.
• Minimal reactive maintenance due to effective preventative care.
• Positive feedback from tenants, management, and visitors.

Skills and Competencies

• Knowledge of roof, gutter, and external area maintenance.
• Basic general maintenance and handyman skills.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot maintenance issues efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and accountability.
• Physical fitness for manual and elevated tasks.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in building maintenance, especially roofs, gutters, or external areas.
• Experience in commercial or retail facilities preferred.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and compliance standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
