Key Purpose
The main goal of this role is to safely operate one or more discrete processes in the Brewing & Utilities plant (e.g., Wort Cooling, Yeast Management, Filtration Q&C). You will also perform maintenance tasks, quality control checks and analyses, and coach fellow team members to produce a consistent product of the right quality at optimum cost.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Plant and Process
- Optimize plant and process performance where appropriate.
- Operate the brew house plant and process.
- Operate the beverage fermentation plant and process.
- Operate the beverage filtration plant and process.
- Operate the packaging (kegging and bottling) plant and process.
- Perform housekeeping tasks, apply 5S principles, and follow safe work practices.
- Identify and correct unsafe work practices.
- Support the creation, drafting, and documentation of standard work procedures (including quick‑fix routines and problem‑solving steps).
Quality Control and Analysis
- Carry out required quality checks and analyses, recording results in the appropriate information system.
- Apply problem‑solving techniques (e.g., quick‑fix routines) to resolve quality problems.
- Escalate any identified or unresolved problems to BAM.
Communication
- Actively participate in meetings and goal reviews.
- Use the gap list to record issues, problems, and improvement opportunities.
- Fully understand team goals and participate in team goal review sessions.
- Use relevant communication media (e.g., shift logbook) to stay informed and inform others of issues.
- Complete required hand‑over to incoming shift team members, ensuring issues related to plant performance and quality are addressed.
- Complete autonomous maintenance tasks and problem‑solving activities.
Problem Solving
- Respond rapidly to upstream or downstream triggers that could result in out‑of‑control process situations.
- Apply problem‑solving techniques (e.g., 5Y, quick‑fix routines) to identify and correct problems.
- Work in teams.
- Develop others in your own skills and the learning of other specialist brewery technicians.
- Be a logical, analytical problem solver who can operate in an unstructured environment.
- Be a team player, prepared to communicate, listen, and assist.
- Demonstrate initiative and energy.
- Show achievement drive (improvement, doing better than standard or what was done previously, being the best).
- Be available to work flexible hours (outside of normal office hours and sometimes over the weekends) to meet production demands.

Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma – Chemical Engineering / Biotechnology.
- Completed IST in Brewing.
- Ability to work shifts.
- Experience in working in an NPD process environment.
