The main purpose of this role is to provide specialized artisan skills and knowledge to the shift team. You will support operations, maintenance, and problem-solving activities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Operational Support

  • Provide specialist support to shift-based teams during operations, including standby and day shifts.
  • Assist as a functional expert in problem-solving and support operators when needed.
  • Offer guidance and advice to the shift team on mechanical and electrical equipment, fault finding, and responses to failures.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and knowledge transfer on machine operation to shift teams.
  • Participate as a functional expert in regional and central plant optimization trials.

Planned Maintenance

  • Carry out work during planned maintenance windows according to the schedule from the planner.
  • If scheduled work cannot be completed, report to the maintenance controller for direction, which may include rescheduling or prioritizing.
  • Assist team members during planned maintenance.
  • Complete administration and SAP tasks related to planned maintenance.
  • Participate in maintenance postmortems to share problems, opportunities, and learnings.

Routine Maintenance

  • Perform cleaning, lubrication, and inspections as per the maintenance schedule.
  • Carry out routine maintenance activities.
  • Resolve any problems found during routine maintenance using appropriate problem-solving techniques. Call in additional resources if needed.
  • Conduct condition monitoring activities as assigned.

Running Repairs

  • Participate in running repairs on plant and equipment or support shift artisans.
  • Assess problems and decide on the best course of action. Call in specialists if required, such as internal instrument technicians or external contractors.
  • If major work is needed, like re-wiring a motor, transfer it to the engineering workshop.
  • Verify that repairs have fixed the issue.
  • Complete administration tasks, including SAP inputs, for repairs carried out.
  • If repairs cannot be done immediately, inform the maintenance planner to schedule for the next window.

Problem Solving

  • Apply the correct problem-solving approach to issues found during routine activities.
  • Call in additional resources or escalate to the engineering controller if needed.
  • Help team members resolve problems on request.
  • Participate in fault-finding analyses (FFAs) as a functional expert.

Housekeeping and Safety

  • Work safely at all times and report any unsafe practices for correction.
  • Follow work instructions and adhere to SAB policies and procedures.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks and apply 5S principles during duties.

  • Recognized trade test as Millwright, Fitter, or Electrician
