Job Requirements and Other Attributes

• PSIRA registered (Grade C) is an advantage
• Proven ability to work under pressure and pay attention to detail

Qualification and Experience

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
• Minimum 1 year experience as a Wireman
• Practical electrical/electronic knowledge is an advantage

Main Purpose of the Job

To assist the Installations Technician with installing cabling for alarm systems, drilling, and connecting detectors and panels. You should be able to power up and walk-test the system. At this level, you are qualified and experienced to install cabling for alarm systems, intercoms, CCTV, and access control systems on your own. You can also drill, connect detectors and the alarm control panel, and power up and walk-test the system without supervision.

Duties

• Assist the technician with installing alarm and security equipment
• Help remove old equipment from client premises
• Run new cables, apply glue, drill holes, and mount detectors, panels, contacts, lights, etc.
• Inform the technician about any shortages or limitations in equipment and tools
• Advise the technician on the cabling needed for an installation
• Assist with user functions and perform handovers
• Clean vehicles and premises after installations
