Assistant Store Manager (Blue Route)

The role involves meeting store sales targets, providing excellent customer service, and managing all retail store operations in line with company standards and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales growth and meet targets by managing, mentoring, and leading the team.
  • Work with sales merchandisers, representatives, and regional managers to review sales strategies and results.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service to create a “wow” experience for every shopper.
  • Address each customer’s unique needs and always prioritize the customer.
  • Build, motivate, and inspire teams with enthusiasm.
  • Maintain staff performance by recruiting, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results.
  • Approve all work schedules, including shifts, breaks, and leave.
  • Provide ongoing training and development for all staff.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to employees and follow up on results.
  • Handle customer complaints calmly and professionally.
  • Manage daily store operations to boost sales while keeping expenses and stock within budget.
  • Minimize all controllable costs and expenses.
  • Protect company assets and reduce shrinkage, damage, and theft.
  • Implement plans to achieve sales goals and motivate staff to contribute.
  • Keep accurate records of stock and financial transactions.
  • Perform daily floor walks and manage stock replenishments and displays.
  • Follow, monitor, and enforce all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain company standards for merchandise and store cleanliness.
  • Coordinate with key service providers, such as security, cleaning, and logistics, to meet company expectations.
  • Ensure smooth execution of all sales promotions, including roadshows and partnerships.
  • Spot marketing opportunities and share them with relevant teams.
  • Plan and carry out promotions on time.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric Certificate
  • Reliable transport to work for shift-based hours
  • At least 3 years in a management role within retail
