Assistant Scrap Metal Yard / Branch Manager – Cape Town Jobs

Job Description

The Assistant Branch Manager helps and supports the Branch Manager in planning and managing the branch’s operations and staff. With guidance from the Branch Manager, this role involves leading a team to meet all operational needs. It is important to follow the Second-Hand Goods Act, build strong customer relationships, and act with honesty. The Assistant Branch Manager must be ready to manage the branch alone if needed.

Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

• Ensure all operational processes and procedures are followed strictly.
• Maintain good customer relations and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Make sure scrap metal is purchased at the correct grade.
• Keep records updated and reconciled accurately for all items purchased and dispatched.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations.
• Lead and supervise a team to achieve operational goals.
• Motivate staff regularly.
• Ensure assistants inspect scrap thoroughly before purchase.
• Comply with the Second-Hand Goods Act by recording all required information accurately.
• Follow clear and reasonable instructions from managers.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Good numeracy skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Ability to work quickly and under pressure.
• At least 3-5 years of relevant managerial experience.
• Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport.
