Purpose of the Role

In this role, you will lead accurate financial reporting, provide meaningful insights, and create strong financial plans. Your work will support the long-term goals and success of Mr Price Money.

Responsibilities

Monthly Closing & Financial Control

  • Oversee and complete month-end closes for accurate and compliant results.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and fix issues quickly.
  • Analyze variances and promote cost control across the business.

Strategic Planning & Budgeting

  • Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Work with leaders to develop strategic and long-term plans.

Statutory & Audit Compliance

  • Handle internal and external audits, following accounting standards and policies.
  • Support IFRS reviews, assessments, and implementations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead a high-performing finance team with clear goals, coaching, and growth opportunities.
  • Build a culture of accountability, agility, and customer focus.
  • Communicate effectively and influence stakeholders.

Reporting & Insights Delivery

  • Prepare monthly, half-year, and year-end reports.
  • Help create annual budget and strategy presentations.
  • Provide clear commentary, financial reports, and board packs.

Business Improvements & Operational Excellence

  • Improve cost management, cash flow, and finance operations.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements for better accuracy and speed.
  • Support ongoing financial controls and governance.
  • Handle other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • CA(SA) qualification (must be registered).
  • 2–5 years of experience after articles, ideally in a commercial setting with financial reporting, budgeting, and month-end work.
  • Strong skills in financial systems and advanced Excel.
  • Good commercial understanding; experience in retail or financial services is a plus.
