Assistant Director: Trade and Investment Promotion

Requirements:

  • A recognized SAQA NQF level 6 qualification in Economics or Business Administration, plus 3 years of relevant experience in trade and development promotion, sector development, or industry development.
  • Knowledge of legal frameworks, Public Finance Management, International Trade and Promotion.
  • Experience in exports and training emerging businesses.
  • Understanding of the South African economy, economic data, and ability to draw insights from it.
  • Knowledge of national and provincial sectors.
  • Ability to work with key industry players across sectors.
  • Competencies: Strong analytical skills, report writing, leadership, program and project management, financial management, service delivery innovation, problem-solving, people management, client orientation, communication, honesty, integrity, advanced computer skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Duties:

  • Help develop and implement policies and strategies for export and investment promotion.
  • Promote all available opportunities.
  • Lead the implementation of bilateral trade agreements.
  • Facilitate and coordinate trade and commerce activities to support industry growth.
  • Liaise with government spheres and stakeholders on trade and investment initiatives.
  • Support the coordination of domestic and international trade exhibitions.
  • Provide input for awareness workshops on trade and investment.
  • Supervise staff, including prioritizing and assigning work.
