Requirements
- Matric Certificate + 3-year National Diploma/Degree in:
- Language Practice (SASL specialization)
- Interpreting/Linguistics
- 2+ years professional SASL interpretation experience
- Preferred: Valid driver’s license
Essential Competencies
- Expert knowledge of SASL grammar and Deaf culture
- Proficiency in translation/interpreting best practices
- Strong administrative & organizational skills
- Government language policy implementation experience
- Fluency in digital communication tools
Key Responsibilities
- Interpretation Services Management
- Coordinate interpreting schedules for departmental events
- Provide live SASL interpretation for meetings & engagements
- Language Development
- Create SASL glossaries and training materials
- Develop accessible communication content
- Policy & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to language legislation
- Implement departmental language policies
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Conduct Deaf culture awareness workshops
- Collaborate with academic institutions & language boards
