Assistant Director – Research
Position Overview
The North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management seeks a qualified professional to lead research initiatives supporting crime prevention, police oversight, traffic management, and road safety strategies.
Salary
R468,459.00 per annum (Salary Level 9)
Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent qualification
- National Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 6/7) in Public Administration, Management, Statistics, Social Science, Economics, or related field
- 3-5 years’ relevant experience in research/evaluation (2 years at supervisory level)
- Valid driver’s license
Essential Knowledge
- Research methodologies and strategic planning frameworks
- Public Service regulations and legislative compliance (PFMA, Treasury Regulations)
Key Skills
- Strong communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Microsoft Suite, SPSS)
- Project management and report writing expertise
- Ability to work under pressure and travel as required
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and implement departmental research policies/systems
- Coordinate research studies from planning to execution
- Analyze data and produce quality-assured reports
- Manage research outputs alignment with strategic objectives
- Lead cross-departmental collaboration on research initiatives
