Assistant Director – Occupational Hygienist Technologist

Requirements:
- A science-based degree in environmental health or equivalent qualification. Must be registered as an Occupational Hygienist Technologist with SAIOH and certified by the SAIOH Certification Committee.
- A minimum of 3 years’ appropriate experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession as an Occupational Hygienist.
- 2–3 years’ appropriate experience, including at least 1–2 years as a Technologist. Knowledge of the OHS Act (85 of 1993 as amended) and all relevant regulations and guidelines. Knowledge of project management.
- Skills: Proficient in MS Office suite. Excellent technical report writing skills. Ability to recognize potential health hazards and risks, and effective measures to reduce or eliminate them.
- Attributes: Attention to detail, good communication, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize, work under pressure, analytical and methodical approach, and teamwork.
Duties:
- Conduct occupational hygiene surveys, field visits, and inspections to ensure compliance with legislation. Conduct interviews and collect environmental samples using monitoring equipment.
- Maintain, calibrate, and operate instruments to monitor the work environment. Interpret analytical results and assist in making appropriate recommendations to prevent or control health hazards.
- Prepare written reports that comply with professional standards. Establish and maintain the integrated Quality Management System (QMS).
