Position Purpose:
Coordinate disaster risk reduction initiatives to minimize disaster impacts through strategic planning and municipal support.
Requirements:
- 3-year National Diploma in Disaster Management/Spatial Planning (or equivalent)
- 3+ years relevant experience
- Valid driver’s license (Code B) – Note: Accommodations available for qualified candidates with mobility restrictions
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop/maintain Disaster Management components in municipal development plans
- Create provincial Disaster Risk Reduction strategy
- Evaluate municipal disaster management frameworks
- Support local government processes and resource management
Essential Knowledge:
- Disaster Management Act (57/2002) & municipal legislation
- Risk mitigation strategies and spatial planning principles
- Integrated development planning processes
- Project and financial management
Salary Range:
R468,459 – R551,823 per annum (Level 9)
