Assistant Director: Facilities and Records Management (SL9)

Minimum Requirements

  • A recognized three-year National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Building Management, Safety Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in Facilities Management, SHERQ, and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
  • Understanding of asset management, infrastructure maintenance, and administrative procedures in the public sector.
  • Computer literacy, including MS Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of facilities management, maintenance planning, security management, and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with public sector laws and regulations, including the Public Service Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Government Immovable Asset Management Act (GIAMA).
  • Knowledge of telephone management systems, fire control systems, and facilities management systems.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of budgeting and procurement processes.
  • Skills in financial management, project management, and people management.
  • Knowledge of records and document management policies and systems.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and lead a team effectively.
